Baked Pasta with Alfredo Sauce

Well, I’ve been slacking lately, between trying to potty train my toddler and my husband switching jobs I haven’t had a lot of time to myself. Ya know, sometimes you just need to eat something terrible for you, like, you have to just eat exactly what you’re craving sometimes and that’s perfectly fine. Now, I was always the person who would just buy the jar of pre made Alfredo sauce in the grocery store and was fine with it. I didn’t know how to make it and didn’t care…. until I didn’t have Alfredo sauce one night and decided to experiment. I did some research on some recipes but everything seemed a lot more difficult than I wanted it to. So I decided to make my own up by pulling ingredients from a lot of different recipes and it was AMAZING. My husband loved it, my toddler loved it, my mother in law loved it…. everyone loved it. So, I’ve decided that since it was so super easy and yummy I’d put it up for all of y’all to see. Now, before I give you this recipe, I’m going to assume that you’ve figured out by now that I don’t ever use measurements the first time I make a recipe, this one is no different, so bear with me. Ready? Here goes;

Baked Pasta Alfredo

1. 1 box of pasta of your choice (I prefer penne)

2. 1 pint of heavy whipping cream

3. 6-8 oz of shredded parmesan cheese

4. 1/2 tsp of minced garlic

5. 1 tsp of onion powder

6. 1 tsp of course sea salt

7. 1 stick of salted butter

8. 1/4 tsp of black pepper

9. 2 tsp of Italian seasoning

10. Mozzarella

11. 2 tbsp flour

1. Boil pasta in a large pot until cooked

2. Pour the pasta into a strainer and let drain

3. Melt butter in the same pot the pasta was cooked in

4. Once the butter is completely melted, add the minced garlic

5. After adding the garlic, add in the flour to create a roux and stir for 2 minutes, making sure there are no lumps of flour

6. Add the parmesan cheese and heavy cream

7. Reduce heat and stir continuously until combined

8. Add remaining spices and stir (if the sauce seems too thick you can add milk to it one tbsp at a time until it reaches desired consistency)

9. Return pasta to the pot and toss

10. After the pasta is completely coated in sauce, add it to a 9×13 baking dish and top with mozzarella cheese

11. Bake at 425°F for 20 minutes or until cheese is bubbling and turning a golden color
